South Africa Definitive Series
About South Africa Definitive Series
South Africa issued its first national stamps in 1910 after the Union of South Africa was formed. The 1926 definitive series featured King George V with springbok and other South African motifs. South African stamps were bilingual, with inscriptions in English and Afrikaans. The bilingual format required careful design. South African stamp design evolved to feature the unique cultural and natural heritage of the country, including apartheid era and post apartheid issues.
