A Forever stamp commemorating the August 21, 2017 total solar eclipse visible across the United States. The stamp used thermochromic ink that transformed from a solar eclipse image to a full moon image when touched. The first US stamp to use thermochromic ink. Over 50 million were printed. The stamp was issued at the date of maximum eclipse visibility. The total solar eclipse was the first to cross the entire US since 1918, creating massive public interest.
