About Mauritius Red Penny
The one penny companion to the Mauritius Blue. Same Post Office error. Only 27 known survivors. The Red Penny is slightly more common than the Blue but still worth over a million dollars in fine condition. Both stamps were discovered by a collector in 1864. The Bordeaux cover bearing both a Blue and Red Mauritius is considered the most valuable philatelic item in existence, worth an estimated 15 million dollars.
