US Overrun Countries
About US Overrun Countries
A series of 13 stamps honoring countries occupied by Nazi Germany. Each featured the flag of the occupied nation. Designed with a phoenix rising from flames on the border. The stamps reminded Americans of the ongoing fight for freedom. The Korea 5 cent stamp was the first US stamp to feature a Korean symbol. The Overrun Countries series was proposed by President Roosevelt, an avid stamp collector. The series is collected both mint and used, with first day covers being popular.
