About US Liberty Detail
The Liberty series featured patriotic American symbols. The 8 cent Statue of Liberty was one of the most used US stamps of the 1950s and 1960s. The series included the first US stamp to show the American flag in full color. The 5 dollar Hamilton was the highest value. The Liberty series was printed on both flat plate and rotary presses, creating collectible varieties. The series was replaced by the Prominent Americans in the 1960s.
