US Kansas Nebraska Overprints
About US Kansas Nebraska Overprints
Stamps overprinted Kans. or Nebr. to deter postage theft in those states. Post offices in Kansas and Nebraska were experiencing losses from stamp theft. The overprint experiment was short lived from 1929 to 1930. The Kansas Nebraska overprints are collected by state and denomination. The experiment was considered unsuccessful as thieves simply moved to other states. The overprints were discontinued and remaining stocks were used as regular postage.
