A 2 cent stamp honoring President Warren G. Harding who died in office in 1923. The stamp was rushed into production within weeks of his death. Over 4 billion were printed, making it one of the most common US stamps. The Harding stamp was produced in sheet, coil, and booklet formats. Despite the massive mintage, hard eyed coil pairs and booklet panes are collectible. The rapid production demonstrated the Bureau of Engraving ability to respond quickly.
