US Diwali
About US Diwali
A stamp honoring Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. The stamp features a traditional diya, an oil lamp used in Diwali celebrations. Diwali is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists worldwide. The Diwali stamp was issued after years of advocacy by Indian American organizations. The stamp is the first US stamp recognizing a Hindu holiday. It joins Eid, Kwanzaa, and other holiday stamps in reflecting American religious and cultural diversity.
