A series of 50 state stamps issued for the American Bicentennial in 1976. Each stamp featured the state flag or seal with a Revolutionary War scene. The Bicentennial states series was one of the largest US commemorative programs. The stamps were issued over the course of 1975 and 1976. Each state received its own first day of issue ceremony. The series educated Americans about their Revolutionary heritage through stamps.
