US Americana Series
About US Americana Series
The definitive series featuring American themes including the Capitol, the flag, and candle holders from various periods. The Americana series was innovative in using a single design motif across all denominations. The series ran from 1975 to 1981. The 1 dollar stamp featuring a lamp was nicknamed the Cargo Crate by collectors. The Americana series was replaced by the Great Americans series. The designs reflected American decorative arts and historical artifacts.
