Soviet Lenin Stamps
About Soviet Lenin Stamps
Stamps featuring Vladimir Lenin appeared immediately after his death in 1924. Over 500 Lenin stamps were issued by the Soviet Union. Lenin appeared more often on Soviet stamps than any other person. The Lenin stamps served as ideological education tools. Early Lenin stamps were based on photographs. Later designs idealized his appearance. Soviet Lenin stamps are collected as historical artifacts of the cult of personality and Soviet propaganda techniques.
