US Inverted Jenny
About US Inverted Jenny
The most famous US stamp error. A 24 cent airmail stamp featuring a Curtiss JN-4 biplane printed upside down. Only one sheet of 100 was sold. The error occurred when the sheet passed through the press twice, once for each color. William T. Robey purchased the sheet for 24 dollars at a post office in Washington DC. The sheet was later broken up. Individual Inverted Jennys sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars. One position, number 58, was stolen in 1955 and not recovered until 2016.
