Chinese Golden Monkey
About Chinese Golden Monkey
A stamp featuring a Red Faced Monkey, part of the Chinese zodiac series. Designed by Huang Yongyu. Only 5 million were printed but most were used for postage, making unused copies rare. The 1980 Golden Monkey stamp is the most valuable modern Chinese stamp, worth over 2,000 dollars unused. The stamp launched the Chinese zodiac stamp series. The escalating value reflects growing Chinese interest in stamp collecting. The 1980 issue had the lowest mintage of all zodiac stamps.
