About French Peace and Commerce
A series of French stamps featuring allegorical figures of Peace and Commerce. Designed by Pierre Gandon. The figures were shown shaking hands across a globe. The series was used during World War II under both the Third Republic and the Vichy regime. The Vichy issues had different colors and watermarks. The Peace and Commerce stamps were among the longest used French definitive stamps, serving from 1938 to 1962.
