French Marianne
About French Marianne
The Marianne series features the personification of the French Republic. Multiple Marianne designs have been used since the 1890s. The Marianne of Dulac by Louis Dulac was used during the Fourth Republic. The Marianne of Cheffer by Albert Decaris was used during the Fifth Republic. The Marianne series is the French equivalent of the British Machin series. Each new Marianne design reflects the artistic and political spirit of its era. Marianne stamps are collected by type and variety.
