Bangladesh First Issue
About Bangladesh First Issue
The first stamps of Bangladesh were Pakistani stamps overprinted BANGLADESH in 1971 during the liberation war. The overprints were applied by the newly independent postal service. Some overprints were hand stamped in remote post offices, creating many varieties. Bangladesh issued its own designs from 1972. The liberation war overprints are collected as historical artifacts of the birth of Bangladesh. The stamps document the chaos and determination of independence.
