New Zealand Life Insurance
About New Zealand Life Insurance
Official stamps overprinted for use by the New Zealand Government Life Insurance Department. These stamps were used for official mail and payment of insurance premiums. The overprints read L.I. for Life Insurance. New Zealand was innovative in creating separate stamp issues for government departments. The Life Insurance Department stamps ran from 1891 to 1969, one of the longest official stamp series in the British Commonwealth.
