About Israeli Tab

Israeli stamps are unique in featuring tabs or inscriptions printed alongside the stamp in the margin. The tabs contain additional information about the stamp subject. The tab tradition began with the first Doar Ivri stamps in 1948. Israeli stamp tabs are collected alongside the stamps. Stamps with intact tabs are worth more than those without. The tab concept has been adopted by a few other countries but remains primarily an Israeli philatelic tradition.
